Lebanon in the Prague Quadrennial
#PQLB

During PQ2011, a collective of Lebanese architects based in New York participated in the Architecture Section. It will be until 2015, in the frame of the thirteenth edition of the PQ, in June 2015, that Lebanon will first participate in the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space.

PQLB2015 brought to Prague a panoply of daily happenings that started the evening before the opening of PQ2015, and stretched until the last day, on Sunday 28 June 2015. PQLB2015 comprised of a National Exhibition, a Student Exhibition, a daily outdoor performance, three Tribes performances, a Makers participation, a workshop, its performance, and the international launch of a publication. Moreover, the Embassy of Lebanon to the Czech Republic organized a reception in the Residence in honor of the participation of Lebanon in PQ2015. While other entries were on the program, financial limitations, technical issues and delays in accessing the funds needed for the execution pushed some participants to step down from the project. Therefore, entries related to the Space Exhibition, to the Space Talk, to the City Tour, to the Tribes and to the Sound Kitchen were halted. View the Lebanese entries to PQ2015.

After the Quadrennial of 2015, Hans Harling's costume project participated in the Beirut Street Festival and in the Beirut Marathon. He was invited to the Festival Impact in Macedonia, and got documented in the book “Tribes”. We have also participated in the “Transformations Symposium of the Prague Quadrennial since 1995”, and we have been published in the book that followed.

PQLB2019 marked the second Lebanese participation in PQ. It brought twenty people to Prague to work and perform in the frame of the Exhibition of Countries and Regions, the Student Exhibition, the daily Formation project, the Performance Space Exhibition, the PQ Talks, the Common Design Project, the 36Qº project, and the Emergence: Practice Exchange meetings. Entries shifted, exhibitions evolved, and new projects bloomed. View the portfolio of PQLB2019.
