— The National Section

The National Section of Lebanon is an engaging exhibition landscape. It features a grid of 24 colanders that carry photographs of theatre and performance design works done by professionals in Lebanon. The images are covered with salt, a vital preservative mineral that gives root to the section. Incense, another organic material, burns in a strainer, elevating the whole pavilion, in communion with the exhibition site: Prague Crossroads - Saint Anne's Church. The interaction of the visitor within the responsive landscape alters the layers of salt, creating oriental patterns, stamped on circular black velvet.

The National Section of Lebanon features works by Ali Chahrour, Bernard Mallat, Camille Brunel, Charbel Samuel Aoun, Cornelia Krafft, Danielle Labaki, Hussein Baydoun, Hussein Nakhal, Lina Abyad, Nada Kano, Nagy Souraty, Nasser Soumi, Omar Rajeh & Sawsan Bou Khaled.

The National Section (Section of Countries and Regions) is the main component of the Prague Quadrennial of Performance Design and Space. The Section is handled by the country (or region) national curator, in charge of the organisation, the finance and the artistic supervision of the exhibition. The country application to the section is not subject to curatorial review by the Prague Quadrennial artistic director ; entries are accepted and the exhibitions are competitive and eligible for the PQ Awards. Be it an installation, a performance space or an exhibition, the National Section features "the best" of scenography works that have been executed in the country during the previous years. Music, Weather and Politics were the PQ2015 themes to be explored in connection to contemporary theatre and scenography. PQ2015 Section of Countries and Regions presented works from 68 countries and the exhibitions were especially conceived for the exhibition venue with which they were in dialogue. The six main venues of the PQ2015 were Colloredo-Mansfeld Palace, Clam-Gallas Palace, The Prague Crossroads, Kafka´s House,The Topič Salon, Lapidarium of Bethlehem Chapel and the piazeta of the National Theatre, all walking distance from each other. Other expositions in the section took place in public spaces between the main venues.
